A Season of Change

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” – James 1: 17, NIV

A good friend of mine, Kelly, is going through a season of change in her life. She’s been blessed with many positive changes like the start of her MLM business and the recent birth of twin sons after years of infertility. Now, she and her husband are in the middle of building a new home to house their expanded family.

But along with the good, there have been losses. Her mom passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer and her best friend moved out of the country.

With so much changing, my friend has found comfort in focusing on things that haven’t changed. Her husband’s encouragement and support have been steadfast. Her friend’s continued text messages and notes make her feel loved.

What’s most telling though is that Kelly is thankful for God’s unchanging character. She tells me all of the things that are going on with her and then says to me, “When everything changes, God doesn’t.” These five words give her the courage and the confidence to embrace this season of change and help her get through each day.

Can you relate to my friend?  Are you going through your own changes?  Do you ever feel overwhelmed and abandoned?  In those moments, you can look to God’s unchanging nature to find comfort and support.

God, thank You for being constant. Please help me remember that I can always look to You during times of change. Please be with me, Father and reassure my heart.
